RCP working parties have produced many influential reports, and often lead the way in public health policy, for example smoking and alcohol.
About our working parties
Membership
The working parties consist of relevant fellows and members, and experts from other fields. Appropriate organisations/individuals are often invited to provide written and/or verbal evidence. Membership tends to be small to allow focused working.
Duration
This varies between 6–24 months – from formation to publication.
Topics
Several working parties on different topics normally run at any one time. An internal review group looks at the suitability of suggested topics.
Working party reports
The internal review group manages the production, launch and promotion of reports. The RCP publishes reports by itself, but also in partnership with other royal colleges or specialist societies. Final approval for all reports must be agreed by RCP Council.
