The RCP is seeking a fellow to join the Investment Advisory Panel

RCP fellows are invited to apply for this position, requiring an interest in the college’s finances.

RCP treasurer Professor Simon Bowman is seeking interest from a fellow with relevant financial, investment, business or management experience or interest to join the RCP Investment Advisory Panel (IAP). This role is open to all fellows in good standing, including SAS doctors. The vacancy has arisen following Professor Ganesh Subramanian completing his term of office.

There are three meetings per year currently via Microsoft Teams, although the June meeting is offered as a hybrid meeting for panel members who wish to attend in person. The IAP is a subcommittee of the Finance and Resources Board. The main functions of the IAP are to advise the RCP on its investment and treasury (cash and deposits) strategy and policies, monitor and advise on the overall liquidity position, and the balance between current accounts, cash deposit accounts and long-term investments, monitor the performance of the RCP investment portfolio, and that of the fund managers and the individual funds and monitor the performance of funds held as cash deposits.

Interview and appointment to role

Shortlisting will be completed during the week commencing Monday 13 January 2025. Shortlisted candidates will need to be available for virtual interview on Tuesday 4 February 2025 between 11am and 4pm. 

The interview panel will comprise:

  • Professor Simon Bowman, treasurer
  • Catherine Powell, executive director of finance
  • other panel members (to be confirmed).

The tenure of the role is 3 years.
