Trainee research collaboratives are trainee-led initiatives that design, plan and undertake research, audit and quality improvement work with collective responsibility and recognition.
They are often supported by consultant colleagues, and sometimes affiliated with other organisations like specialty societies.

What do trainee research collaboratives look like?
Trainee research collaboratives can be specialty-based (eg respiratory medicine), or disease-orientated (eg breast cancer). They may be regional, national, or international.
Why should trainees get involved?
The benefits of participation in trainee research collaboratives include improved access to training in research competencies, development of teamworking and leadership skills, publication and presentation opportunities, and the potential to improve patient care.
