RCP elections 2023 – Nominations are now open

Please note that further to the details below that nominations for the vice president for Wales and councillors have been extended until midday on Thursday 12 January 2023.

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) invites its fellows to nominate candidates for the RCP elections 2023.

RCP fellows may nominate eligible candidates for the following key roles:

  • Senior censor and education and training vice president
  • Vice president for Wales
  • Councillors.

Nominations must be received by Friday 16 December 2022 to be considered. Voting will open in March 2023 when all fellows in good standing will be sent online ballot papers and election material about the candidates.

Special general meeting of fellows for the election of the president/College Day 2023

As required by section 6 of the Medical Act 1860, the election of the president will be held on Monday 3 April 2023. The election will form part of College Day and only those fellows who have been nominated previously are eligible for election. A nomination form can be found here (behind the website login).

Please note that RCP Council recommends to fellows that Dr Sarah Clarke be nominated, to continue to serve as president with the expectation that her term of office is four years, ending in September 2026. Dr Clarke has indicated her willingness to stand for re-election and so please read the statement from Council in support of her candidature, available at the link above.
