Working with patients

Meaningful patient engagement not only improves patient experience and satisfaction, but also makes services more effective.

The RCP uses shared patient experiences to help identify areas for improvement and to understand what patients and carers need from health services. This is used to develop guidance and recommendations for the RCP’s member doctors, healthcare teams, hospitals and government.

Patient safety

At the RCP we are committed to ensuring that there are high standards of safety for all patients receiving medical treatment across the NHS. The RCP patient safety strategy seeks to make safety an integral part of professionalism and provides practical tools to support this.
