The Effective teaching skills workshop is a comprehensive, 2-day medical education training course designed to help clinicians and healthcare professionals improve how they design, deliver, and evaluate teaching sessions across a variety of clinical and educational settings. This Teach the teacher course is ideal for those looking to strengthen their clinical teaching skills and create more engaging, learner-centred environments.
The Effective Teaching skills workshop includes as part of the workshop price, a free online module: ‘Introduction to neurodiversity and AI in education’
Delegates on the Effective Teaching skills course will receive a free 1-CPD online module after attendance on the workshop. This bonus module explores how neurodiversity impacts on teaching and learning and how to evaluate the challenges and benefits of neurodivergence in educational settings. It considers the concept of reasonable adjustments, and how learners and educators benefit from a better understanding of neurodiversity in their own educational practice.
This module also introduces using Generative AI (GenAI) to support teaching and learning by explaining how AI works and the limitations of AI in a range of settings. It considers ethical and professional aspects of AI use and provides practical tips on writing effective prompts and using AI in medical education. CPD approved for 1 credit, and free to access after attending the workshop.

What will I learn?
By the end of this effective teaching skills workshop, you will be able to:
- Create an effective educational environment that supports resident learning
- Write clear, measurable objectives for a teaching session
- Design and implement a structured session plan
- Understand the strengths and limitations of both large and small group teaching
- Maximise interaction and learning in diverse teaching formats – face-to-face, online
- Identify and develop appropriate teaching resources
- Apply best practices in evaluating teaching and learning
- Plan and conduct an evaluation of your own teaching sessions.
The inclusive bonus 1-hour online module has the following learning outcomes:
- Recognise the challenges and benefits that neurodiversity brings to learning
- Consider how learning can be adapted to support neurodiverse individuals
- Reflect on neurodiversity in educators
- Explain, at a high level, how AI generates outputs and so identify some of the limitations of Generative AI
- Identify the ethical, professional, and governance considerations around using AI in medical education
- Distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI tools within undergraduate, postgraduate, and CPD settings
- Apply techniques for writing effective, responsible prompts that generate useful and safe AI outputs in educational contexts.
