Teale essay prize

The Resident Doctor Committee of the Royal College of Physicians invite submissions for the Teale essay prize. 

The winner will receive £200, a fee waiver for an in-person ticket to RCP Med+ 2026 and the opportunity to have their essay published in the resident doctor committee edition of Commentary.

Eligibility

  • Anyone in core training (IMT) or in physician HST (regardless of RCP membership)
  • Any other resident doctor (inc. FYs and LEDs) that are associate members of the RCP
  • Not open to medical students.

The essay must not have been previously published, and manuscripts exceeding 1,500 words will not be considered.

Please include a word count at the end of your text. The word count includes in-text references, but bibliographies/reference lists may be excluded.
