The Dwyer-Hart RCP medical research grant has been established through the generous support of the Dwyer-Hart medical research charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) to support impactful research and create a lasting legacy for patient benefit.
This grant forms part of a wider Dwyer-Hart RCP medical research programme being developed in partnership with the RCP to support clinician-led, translational research that bridges scientific discovery and real-world healthcare delivery.
About the grant
The Dwyer-Hart RCP medical research grant offers:
- Up to £60,000 research funding
- Support for a 12-month project
- Additional 6 months for final reporting.
In addition, the grant holder will receive:
- Complimentary registration for one RCP Annual Conference
- An invitation to meet representatives of the Dwyer-Hart medical research CIO
- An expectation to submit a poster or platform abstract to the RCP Annual Conference following project completion.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a collegiate member or fellow of the RCP (successful applicants who are not yet members must join prior to grant commencement)
- Be based at a UK academic or clinical institution
- Have confirmed institutional support and a named supervisor
- Have a PhD.
Applications in all areas of health and medicine will be considered; however, projects should enable research that bridges science and patient care and have a tangible health impact.
Criteria
Applications are welcome from across all areas of health and medicine. Projects should:
- Bridge the translational gap between laboratory science and patient‑facing care
- Show a credible pathway to tangible health impact.
