Enable physicians to develop interests in research to improve health outcomes for women.
Wellbeing of Women-Royal College of Physicians Partnership Entry Level Scholarships (ELS) provide single candidates with up to £20,000 for up to 12 months. However, we will consider requests for a longer duration with justification. Funds are for directly incurred research costs and may include a salary contribution. Applicants must be members of the RCP, and research undertaken in the UK.
These awards will fund pre-doctoral physicians in projects aimed to improve outcomes for women, girls and babies related to a woman’s reproductive and gynaecological health.
Applicants are encouraged from a wide range of medical disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Endocrinology
- Neurology
- Dermatology
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Rheumatology
- Obstetrics
- and more
Awards are intended to provide ‘pump-priming’ funds to enable physicians to be exposed to a research environment and to obtain pilot data that will enhance an application for a clinical research fellowship (PhD or MD). Applicants would normally be new to the research discipline and will not previously have been heavily involved in substantial or funded research projects.
The RCP plays an integral role in training physicians, and we have partnered with them to help fund the next generation of physicians interested in addressing research priorities in women’s health and reducing the inequalities that women face.
