A Royal College of Physcians (RCP) delegation, led by Professor Jane Dacre, met with Pakistan president Mamnoon Hussain during a visit to the country to participate in a symposia on advancing patient care.
Professor Dacre, RCP CEO Ian Bullock, international medical director Professor Ali Jawad and head of international affairs Steve Crump led sessions on ‘Patient safety: a whole systems approach’ at the event, and shared experiences from the Future Hospital Programme during Saturday’s symposium – a collaboration with the Pakistan Britain Business Council.
Commenting on the visit, Professor Jawad said:
I was once again reminded that wherever we practice, many of the challenges we face as physicians are the same. We are grateful to our international advisers and fellows for making this such a productive few days - a fitting way to begin our quincentenary year.
The team then met with Mr Hussain, discussing the contribution of Pakistani physicians to the NHS and planned collaborations between the RCP, the Aga Khan University and the Punjab Public Health Agency.
