Comment on Faculty of Public Health report 'Local action to mitigate the health impacts of cars'

Professor Holgate said:

This report from the FPH adds to the knowledge of the dangers from air pollution, and the urgency with which we must improve our air quality. The RCP/RCPCH [Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health] 2016 report Every breath we take showed the substantial impact of air pollution on many chronic long-term conditions across the lifecourse, including increases in strokes and heart attacks in susceptible individuals.

When our patients are exposed to such a clear and avoidable cause of death, illness and disability, it is our duty to speak out.

For more on air quality and air pollution, consult the RCP website.
