Commenting on the new NICE clinical guideline, Crohn’s disease: management in adults, children and young people launched today, Dr Ian Arnott, Clinical Lead, UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Audit said:
The UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) audit seeks to improve the quality and safety of care for IBD patients in hospitals throughout the UK. This new guidance from NICE and NCGC will help healthcare professionals to provide more support for patients in managing their condition. Further rounds of the UK IBD audit will be vital to assess the impact of these guidelines on clinical practice.
The guideline will be a welcome addition to the work directed by the UK IBD Audit Steering Group, which investigates individual patient care, service resources and organisation against national standards.
