Today the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) can announce the appointment of Ian Bullock as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Prior to his appointment to the interim CEO role in 2015, Ian was the executive director of the Care Quality Improvement Department, which encompassed leadership of the existing Clinical Standards Department with the National Clinical Guideline Centre (NCGC).
Ian originally joined the RCP in 2009 as chief operating officer for the NCGC leading on the successful merger of four acute guideline centres into one. Previous to these roles with the RCP Ian has had extensive clinical experience, starting his career in nursing, and continues to be actively involved in educational and research practice in subjects such as advanced life support and undergraduate medical and nursing curriculum development. With a career concentrating on ‘making a difference’ Ian is focussed on demonstrating strong leadership and working with senior clinicians towards improving care outcomes and patient experience.
On the appointment RCP president Jane Dacre said:
I’m delighted to welcome Ian Bullock to the post of CEO. With a strong determination to improve outcomes for patients as well as a wide range of useful and practical knowledge of the healthcare landscape, his appointment will be of great benefit to the RCP.
