Innovation in Medicine 2018: Sanofi UK partners with the Royal College of Physicians to promote innovation in medicine

Sanofi’s commitment to being a trusted life partner makes it more important than ever to work alongside physicians to deliver innovation in a way which improves lives, and we’re delighted to be partnering with the Royal College of Physicians at this, its five hundredth anniversary conference. Non-communicable disease, prolonged life expectancy, the emergence of new viral and bacterial threats combined with the increasing prevalence of old enemies, such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, are challenging the lives of people all over the world. Finding solutions to relieve these burdens will require truly ground-breaking innovation and that will only be possible through NHS and Industry partnerships.” said Dr Hubert Bland, Medical Director of Sanofi UK.

Professor Dame Jane Dacre, President of the RCP, added,

We are pleased to work with Sanofi at Medicine 2018, focussing on innovation in medicine - working in partnership is the key to addressing today’s health challenges.

In line with the innovation theme for the RCP’s 500 year celebration conference, Sanofi have organised two sessions demonstrating the accelerating impact and potential of Artificial Intelligence and innovative digital technologies to spearhead the next generation of therapeutic solutions that empower people to better manage chronic conditions.

Using technology to deliver innovation is a key focus for Sanofi in a range of ways including:

  • Improving the clinical trial process to reduce drug development cycle times and costs.
  • Developing the next generation of digital manufacturing for biopharmaceuticals.
  • Collaborating with companies and organisations to use data to understand how behaviours and compliance patterns differ in patients from different countries or regions.  New types of ‘big data’ analytics are also part of these collaborations.  It allows insights to be gained across many different data sets and types of information for the benefit of patient outcomes.
  • Leveraging mobile technology and telemedicine capabilities to allow the development of ‘site-less’ or decentralised clinical trials that are more patient friendly.  This means it is easier for patients to access and eliminates many of the common impediments to participation.
