Keeping patients at the heart of the NHS: RCP's four-point plan for government

Keeping patients at the heart of the NHS also recognises that the UK has a high quality, efficient and accessible healthcare service, and pays tribute to the wonderful dedicated NHS staff who work long hours and go above and beyond to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

The manifesto's four key points:

  1. place patient care at the centre of Brexit negotiations
  2. invest in, support and value the NHS workforce
  3. deliver a new financial settlement for the NHS and social care
  4. support people to live healthier lives by investing in public health.

RCP president Professor Jane Dacre said:

With each new government comes a new opportunity to ensure that the NHS has the resources, people and services it needs to provide the care that our patients deserve. Patients must be at the centre of decisions made on healthcare provision, and that includes serious consideration of the implications of Brexit on patient care.
