Nominations are open for the 2017 RCP elections

As Dr Gerrard Phillips nears the end of his successful term in the role, RCP fellows are invited to nominate candidates for the new senior censor and vice president for education and training (VPET). Fellows are also invited to submit nominations for councillors to serve between August 2017 and July 2020.

Senior censor and vice president for education and training

The senior censor and vice president for education and training (VPET) is one of three vice presidents, who are senior officers of the RCP, and is responsible for leading the RCP’s Education Department and its activities. Nominated candidates must have at least 5 years' standing as an RCP fellow and will be expected to demonstrate interest and experience in medical education.

The elected candidate will shadow Dr Phillips and then take up office on 1 August 2017.

Once nominated, candidates will be invited to submit a CV along with details of their interests and experience, to assist Council in drawing up the ballot list. After considering nominations, Council will approve a list of candidates from those who have been nominated. The new senior censor and education and training vice president will be elected via a postal ballot that RCP fellows will be invited to vote in.

Members of Council

Council is the professional decision-making body of the RCP and elected members are required to attend six Council meetings throughout the year, and will also undertake additional supporting work.

Under the terms of bye-law 80, any fellow of the RCP may propose one or more fellows for election to Council.

Please note that any proposed nomination for Council must be supported by three fellows. Anyone nominated must have agreed to stand for election and be aware that they are being nominated.
