Nominations for senior censor and vice president for education and training and members of Council

As Dr Emma Vaux nears the end of her successful term, RCP fellows may nominate candidates for the role of senior censor and vice president for education and training (VPET). Fellows may also submit nominations for members of RCP Council to serve between August 2020 and July 2023.

Deadline for nominations is Wednesday 11 March 2020.

Senior censor and vice president for education and training

The senior censor and VPET is one of three vice presidents, who are senior officers of the RCP. They are responsible for leading the RCP’s Education directorate and its activities. Nominated candidates must have at least 5 years' standing as an RCP fellow and will be expected to demonstrate interest and experience in medical education, training, continuing professional development and assessment

Along with the other senior officers the successful candidate will be expected to spend some of their time based in RCP North, as well as London, and act as an ambassador for the RCP in that context. A two-person job share is possible for the role.

Once nominated candidates will be invited to submit a CV along with details of their interests and experience, to assist Council in drawing up the ballot list. After considering nominations, Council will approve a list of candidates from those who have been nominated. When circulated, the ballot paper will be designed to enable a transferable voting procedure. Candidates will also be invited to supply a photograph and a statement along with other material as agreed by Council to accompany the ballot paper.

The elected candidate will shadow Dr Vaux and then take up office on 1 August 2020.
