Professor Ali Jawad will take over the role of international medical director and Hans Sloane fellow from current post-holder Professor David Warrell in August 2016.
An important and high-profile position, the international medical director spearheads international capacity development and consultancy work, and is responsible for supporting members and fellows and growing the RCP’s profile across the world.
Professor Jawad, also Professor of rheumatology at Barts Health NHS Trust, has been RCP associate international director for North Africa and the Middle East since 2008 and regularly represents the RCP overseas, most recently speaking at November’s Advanced Medicine Congress in Abu Dhabi.
