Commenting on the OECD/EC report, A good life in old age?, published today, Professor Iain Carpenter, said:
I welcome this report as a further reminder for the need to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care for older people. There is a large challenge to be met to ensure that, as the world’s population continues to grow and people live longer, the quality and safety of healthcare available and received meets their needs. I support the call for a greater focus on outcomes, such as safety, effectiveness and user (patient) experience as a way to inform measurement of care.
