The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) joins European partner organisations in Paris on Monday 16 January for the OECD Policy Forum on the Future of Health.
The RCP will be represented by Paul Belcher (principlal EU advisor) and Nick Samuels (director of strategy, policy & communications).
The conference focuses on people-centred approaches to healthcare by addressing key issues including:
- harnessing digital technology and data to create proactive, people-centred systems
- overcoming technical, institutional and cultural challenges
- caring for people with complex needs
- the importance of measuring what matters to people and to patients
- the role of international and cross-sector collaboration.
The forum provides opportunities to raise awareness of RCP work in a range of areas including health informatics, the RCP Patient and Carer Network and EU-level activities in Brussels.
OECD work on health policy and data covers a wide range of topics including prevention, workforce, hospital and longterm care. In 2015 the RCP welcomed - and was involved in the Brussels launch of - the OECD report Tackling Harmful Alcohol Use – Economics and Public Health Policy. Most recently, in January 2017, the OECD published a major report on Tackling Wasteful Spending on Health.
