The annual European Health Forum gathers in Gastein, Austria, this week which brings together some 700 delegates including EU Ministers and representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, WHO, OECD, and health organisations that are active at EU level including the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
'Securing health in Europe'
This year’s theme is 'Securing health in Europe' which will consider the need for health systems to safeguard past health gains while responding to new threats and opportunities that call for a strengthened European response. There will be a special focus on addressing the health challenges and needs of migrants and refugees as well as new healthcare technologies.
RCP speakers
The RCP’s traditionally strong presence at the Forum continues this year. Professor Jeremy Wyatt (RCP Adviser on New Information and Communication Technologies) will present in a European Commission led session on digital healthcare tools and mHealth. Paul Belcher (RCP Principal EU Advisor & European Health Forum Advisory Committee member) will take part in a ‘Policy-Makers Dialogue’, chaired by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, to discuss how conference discussions and conclusions can be taken forward in policy terms.
