RCP clinches success in national conference awards

The awards judge venues against a demanding set of criteria, including business performance, customer liaison and feedback, technology and catering support and success in winning new business.

The RCP has achieved consistent business growth during a period of austerity, and has sustained outstanding customer feedback ratings. Its appeal extends beyond the medical sector: recent events that it has hosted include the international meeting of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the BBC’s prestigious Dimbleby Lecture and the Joint Meetings Industry Council JMIC International Conference on Evaluating Meetings.

It is an iconic, award-winning, Grade I listed modernist building offering a distinctive combination of modern conference facilities and evocative heritage locations. Further opportunities to make events memorable include its medicinal garden and extensive museum collections. Seventy per cent of its business is repeat, through a rigorous approach to building customer relationships. Training is very comprehensive, and staff retention levels are exceptionally high.

In the latest VenueVerdict awards made by BDRC Continental, the leading market research organisation, the RCP was one of only 18 venues nationwide to be awarded a gold standard. The awards are based on ongoing customer feedback through the year, and embrace more than 350 high quality venues.

This year is the first time that the RCP has entered for the Conference Awards.

Commenting on the award, Clive Ostler, general manager of the RCP’s Marketing and Facilities Department, said:

The organisers told us that quality and the quantity of entries had further increased on the standard of previous years, so our success is particularly pleasing.

Competition within our category was especially fierce, and we believe our award results from an exceptional combination of truly distinctive facilities and a comprehensive commitment to addressing and exceeding the needs of our customers.
