RCP comment: NHS England proposes to cut the sale of sugary drinks on NHS premises

He said:

This initiative will not only have the practical effect of reducing the amount of sugar consumed, but will also send out a strong message to patients and visitors. Sugary drinks are calorific and nutrition-free, and have no place in hospitals.

We also welcome the suggestion that the savings are invested in health and wellbeing projects – good quality patient care depends on a healthy NHS workforce.
