Results of 2019 elections for RCP clinical vice president and members of Council; Appointment of new censors

Elected roles

Dr Clarke was elected the RCP's new clinical vice president after a vote by over 4,000 fellows.

The ballot, which closed on 19 July 2019, also included the election of four new members to RCP Council. As Dr Clarke will stand-down from her current role as an elected Councillor to take on the senior role this created an additional vacancy for an elected Councillor on a two year tenure. It was agreed that this role would be extended to the fifth placed candidate in the election and so the five new Councillors are Dr Kaushik Chaudhuri, Professor Rob George, Dr Ruth Law, Professor Tom Solomon and Dr Jenny Vaughan.

The elections were conducted using the single transferable vote system. All RCP fellows were eligible to vote.

Appointed roles

Dr Jyoti Baharani, Professor Rudolf Bilous and Dr Rasha Mukhtar have been appointed as RCP censors. Nineteen applications were received. Twelve candidates were shortlisted and interviews took place on 18 June.

The RCP welcomes the successful candidates and would like to thank all those who put themselves forward for the roles.
