The Royal College of Physicians sends its support to health care staff in India caring for overwhelming numbers of patients with COVID-19, often with inadequate resources.
This is a heart breaking and challenging situation to witness, let alone to be part of, and our appreciation for those doctors, nurses and others doing their jobs in such difficult circumstances cannot be overstated.
We have members and fellows in India, colleagues, family and friends too, and we worry about all of them as COVID-19 runs rampant.
We have been in regular contact with our international advisers and partners to understand the challenges staff in India are facing and to offer our support in any way we can.
We urge anyone who can to support the BAPIO (British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) India COVID Fund, which is providing equipment, telemedicine and other much-needed help.
