Around 120 diplomates received their MRCP(UK) diploma during a prestigious ceremony on Tuesday 12 November at RCP London.
The celebrations began in the afternoon with tours of the RCP gardens and building, with photography and refreshments. Just before 5:30pm, the sound of the gong called the diplomates to their seats in the Dorchester Library. Guests of the diplomates were able to join the celebrations and watch the ceremony from either the upper floor of the Dorchester Library or via livestream in the Wolfson Theatre. After the ceremony, diplomates and their guests continued the celebrations with a buffet.
Each year, there are six New members ceremonies at RCP London which present a total of around 720 MRCP(UK) diplomas. Over 13,000 of our members have already achieved this momentous accomplishment and if we add our fellows into this mix that’s a total of nearly 32,000! Over 3,000 of our members, in lower career grades, are steadily making their way toward the MRCP(UK) exam.
‘I’m proud and honoured to be a member of a 500-year-old institution that promotes excellence in medicine globally. It’s helped me to become a better doctor and it feels inclusive,’
These numbers may be impressive, but what really makes these evenings special are the members who attend and receive their diplomas. They’re the ones who’ve been with us and supported by us from the very start of their medical careers, and who’ve made the RCP their RCP.
Throughout this year, we’ve been speaking to our members about what their RCP membership, and receiving the MRCP(UK) diploma means the them:
