Professor Tim Evans was an inspirational leader who gave so much to the RCP in various roles, including as academic vice president and the operational lead for the RCP’s Future Hospital Commission.
Tim's energy and enthusiasm were infectious and instrumental in steering projects to a successful conclusion. He was generous with his knowledge and expertise, and his commitment to continuous improvement in health systems was unwavering.
As lead for the Future Hospital Commission he was responsible for its Future hospital: Caring for medical patients report, described by The Lancet as ‘the most important statement about the future of British medicine for a generation’. Its influence has been felt across the health service as the new models of care described in the report have been introduced and tested.
In his later role as national director for clinical productivity Tim continued to champion improvement, working with Getting It Right First Time on sharing and encouraging best practice across the NHS.
Warm, funny, cheerful, and irreverent, we will all miss him very much.
