Following the submission of our written evidence to the APPG on Coronavirus the RCP president was called to give verbal evidence to the group of MPs on 19 August 2020.
The APPG on Coronavirus was established with the aim to ensure that lessons are learned from the UK’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak so far such that the UK’s response and preparedness may be improved in future.
Professor Andrew Goddard, RCP president, appeared in front of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Coronavirus on 19 August 2020. He was asked a series of questions about the effectiveness of the NHS Test and Trace app, testing of healthcare professionals, and views on how the government should prepare for future waves of COVID-19. Professor Goddard highlighted the importance of ‘consistent, simple and repeated messaging’ by all.
Our written submission which outlines further challenges that the government ought to address, including those to trainees, can be found here.
