Earlier this year, the Migration Advisory Committee put out a call for evidence in relation to it’s review of the Shortage Occupation List. The RCP submitted evidence, outlining the need to ensure that social care workers were included.
The evidence submitted by the RCP, highlights the importance of ensuring that the UK remains an attractive place for international workers, particularly in occupations where shortages and pressures exist. This includes the social care workforce, who are not currently part of the Shortage Occupation List – an official list of roles where there are not enough workers in the domestic UK labour market to meet demand therefore it is sensible to recruit migrant workers.
