Head of Patient Safety Incident Response Policy at NHS England and Improvement (NHSEI).

In her role, she oversees the day-to-day strategic leadership and provides subject matter expertise for the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) project at NHSEI.

This initiative aims to establish a new framework supporting a strategic, risk management approach to balance incident responses with safety improvement activities.

Helen is a Chartered Human Factors specialist and an academic with professional recognition as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

She is currently also a Senior Lecturer in Patient Safety at the University of Aberdeen, where she is responsible for working with staff to design, deliver and evaluate the patient safety strategy for medical and related programmes.

Helen is also a Scientific Adviser to NHS Education for Scotland, supporting the development of both the education programme and a practical toolkit designed to support human factors activity across NHS Scotland.
