QI in practice for trainees

‘QI in practice for trainees’ is a 2-day course to support development in knowledge and understanding of quality improvement (QI), and how to effectively put this into practice in order to make change meaningful.

Why you should attend

This course has been created to help improve your approach to:

  • identifying areas to improve quality
  • designing, leading and implementing change using QI methodology
  • measuring change
  • sharing and sustaining change
  • dealing with real issues faced during QI projects (QIPs).

This interactive course will provide you with the tools to complete QI assessments for your portfolio, as well as help improve the quality of service in your workplace.

Course content

The workshop days are separated in time to allow you to put into practice the learning from day 1. On day 2, you will be working in action learning sets with other trainee doctors to discuss issues that have arisen within your project and to come up with practical solutions.

Day 1

  • essential knowledge, skills and techniques for quality improvement
  • developing an aim statement
  • planning your project
  • measuring improvement.

Day 2

  • critical appraisal of QIPs
  • overcoming barriers to change
  • involving others in your QIP.

Who is this course suitable for?

Trainees of all specialties and grades who wish to improve their practice in improving quality.
