Whitney-Wood Scholarship - now open

As a part of its ongoing commitment to patient-focused research, the RCP is pleased to announce the launch of a new scholarship programme. The Whitney-Wood Scholarships have been made possible through a generous bequest from Dorothy Whitney-Wood and aim to provide funding for research in the fields of health and medicine.

Each Whitney-Wood Scholarship will provide funding of up to £50,000 for salary and direct project costs. Each grant is envisioned as funding a 12-month project on a full-time basis, or a part-time equivalent over a longer period. Up to four grants may be awarded each year at the President’s discretion, subject to the number and quality of applications received.

Eligibility

Applications in all areas of health and medicine will be seriously considered. However, applications for research around the understanding and management of cancer are especially encouraged.

Applicants must be members or fellows of the RCP in good standing in order to apply.

Criteria

The research project will be assessed on:

  • Contribution to furthering clinical science or improving healthcare through proposed research
  • Extent to which CV of applicant validates proposed research
  • Significance of proposed subject matter in the context of assessment criteria.

Applications will be assessed by the President of the Royal College of Physicians.

How to apply
