The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) invites persons interested to apply for the post of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme (PRSAS) Clinical Lead.

The Care Quality Improvement Directorate supports the RCPs strategic aim to improve care for patients. It utilises a variety of methods and approaches to drive improvements in activities, influences the quality of clinical practice via ambitious work programmes that are delivered via constituent teams. The PRSAS accreditation programme, hosted by the CQID at the RCP, was established in 2018 and aims to promote similar change and improvement in pulmonary rehabilitation services throughout the UK by supporting services to achieve accreditation standards.
In collaboration with key stakeholders including representatives from Asthma + Lung UK, the British Thoracic Society and the National Respiratory Audit Programme, PRSAS promotes change and quality improvement in pulmonary rehabilitation services, whilst also providing assurance to patients, managers, referrers and commissioners about the quality of service provided.
The PRSAS Clinical Lead is appointed by the RCP to act on its behalf to lead on developments to the PRSAS accreditation programme. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the PRSAS project manager (based at the RCP) to ensure the success of the PRSAS accreditation programme by providing expert clinical leadership, direction and strategy. They will be responsible for delivering the main aims of the PRSAS accreditation programme in accordance with the direction advised by the PRSAS steering group. The post holder will provide high quality guidance and advice and is expected to be actively involved in pulmonary rehabilitation services. You will be able to promote the benefits of being accredited and represent PRSAS in external meetings and act as one of the key points of contact on behalf of PRSAS. The time commitment is on average half a day per week.
The successful applicant does not need to be a current PRSAS assessor but would be expected to become a lead assessor and trainer within the programme.
