IBD inpatient care audit

What we are doing

The IBD inpatient care audit gives a comprehensive picture of current provision of care for inpatients and will enable lay people, as well as experts, to extract relevant information. This report should form the template for a local action plan that allows the IBD team to identify areas in need of change. The plan should include mechanisms for service improvement and the individuals responsible for these actions should be made clear.

What we have produced

This report examines the inpatient care provided to people admitted to UK hospitals for treatment of UC between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2013.

This report examines the inpatient care provided to people admitted to hospitals in the UK for treatment of UC between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2013.

This is the third round of national audit for inpatient care for adult patients. The full reports contain detailed information about the provision of inpatient care including how the situation has changed across the different rounds of the audit.

This report constitutes the second round of national inpatient care audit for paediatric patients.
The second round of the audit in autumn 2008 assessed changes to the organisation and processes of IBD care following these interventions.

The participation of paediatric sites in the UK Paediatric IBD Audit in 2008 was a major step forward in helping to ensure that the desired consistent, high quality care is available for all IBD patients, independent of age.

The UK IBD Audit is the first UK-wide audit performed within gastroenterology. The 1st Round of the UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Audit was conducted from September 2006 to December 2006.
