This one-day, CPD-accredited clinical director training workshop from the Royal College of Physicians is designed for senior clinicians stepping into or currently holding the role of clinical director. Through expert-led sessions and peer discussion, you will explore the responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities of clinical leadership in the NHS and beyond.

Whether you are a newly appointed or preparing for a clinical director role, this leadership development workshop will equip you with the tools to lead your team, manage change, and influence at a strategic level.

Define the role of the Clinical Director
Reflect on the role of the clinical director in appraisal and revalidation
Critically consider the key principles of successful job planning
Analyse the key aspects of an effective clinical governance system
Evaluate the steps in the preparation of a short business case
Identify strategies for coping with the challenges of Emergency Care provision
Develop and practice strategies to promote wellbeing and resilience.

Teaching faculty

Our workshops are jointly delivered by medical educationalists and a combination of senior doctors and other healthcare leaders. This balance of joint facilitation is key to the value and success of our workshops.

Our experienced medical educationalists bring theoretical understanding and practical teaching experience from a variety of academic backgrounds.

The doctors and other healthcare leaders bring experience and knowledge of current medical practice. The senior doctors are from a range of specialties working in hospitals throughout the UK, who have teaching and supervisory roles as part of their clinical commitments.

Delivery mode

We run this course in person to maximise the advantages of group working and networking. Lunches and breaks give you time to share experiences with colleagues from across the UK and with the course faculty. We deliver the course in both our Liverpool and London venues.
