Future Hospital: Journey towards integration

The aims of the event were to: 

  • present perspectives on integration from patients, primary and secondary care, and commissioners 
  • share experience from the Future Hospital research project in Oxfordshire which is piloting the integration of diabetes services, and provide a forum for delegate to share their own experience 
  • explore key issues and solutions in the areas of IT integration, governance and finance, patient engagement, clinical engagement and training. 

Speakers

The event was chaired by Professor Frank Joseph, Future Hospital officer, and speakers included: 

  • Avril Surridge, representative patient working with the Oxfordshire team
  • Dr Rustam Rea, consultant in diabetes and acute general medicine, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Dr Amar Latif, GP and diabetes clinical lead, Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Paul Swan, commissioning manager: Long-term conditions, Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Jan Hoogewerf, programme manager, RCP Health Informatics Unit
  • Lynne Quinney, RCP Patient and Carer Network link to FHP Mid Yorks development site
  • Dr Garry Tan, consultant physician, Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Prof. Anne Dornhorst, professor of practice, Imperial College London, and consultant in diabetes, Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust 
  • Dr Eleanor Murray, senior research fellow, Said Business School, University of Oxford.
