Are you passionate about shaping the future direction and content of Commentary, the RCP’s membership magazine? We are seeking enthusiastic RCP members to join the Commentary advisory group, supporting the magazine’s strategic and editorial development.
About the role
Members of the advisory group provide strategic and editorial advice to the clinical editor and editorial staff, actively contributing to the success of Commentary. Group members are expected to:
- advise on editorial themes and content priorities aligned with RCP and membership strategic goals (eg workforce, sustainability, health inequalities)
- offer insight and perspective from your specialty and/or membership grade to inform Commentary’s strategy
- support the commissioning of features representing a broad spectrum of member and influential national voices, including underrepresented groups
- ensure high editorial standards, transparency and inclusivity in decision-making, maintaining relevance to the readership
- attend regular advisory group meetings (four a year) to inform the magazine’s progress and future planning
- provide feedback on reader engagement strategies, including digital and social media integration
- support promotional efforts and member engagement campaigns linked to Commentary
- commission, interview for, and write articles when appropriate.

Membership of the advisory group is for an initial 3-year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
