RCP seeks representative to support net zero urology

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is looking for a member or fellow with expertise in the prevention and medical management of urolithiasis to participate in a new national net zero research hub led by Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) and the University of Exeter.

The role holder will represent the RCP as an RCP expert representative, contributing to a clinical reference group developing a new guide to decarbonise the urinary tract stones pathway.

They will participate in fortnightly online clinical reference group meetings, review draft guidance on behalf of the RCP and support GIRFT in the development of recommendations for decarbonising urinary tract stone management. They will report regularly on the progress of the clinical reference group to the RCP.

The RCP is a supporting partner of the GIRFT and the University of Exeter net zero research hub. The hub is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

Who we are looking for

  • A physician with an interest in and expert knowledge of the prevention and medical management of urolithiasis to participate in and contribute to fortnightly online meetings, spanning approximately 2 months, starting in early August 2025.
  • A collaborative worker with an interest in supporting work to decarbonise healthcare pathways.
  • A practising medical doctor who is actively connected with, and credible to, the clinical community. You should hold a licence to practise. 
  • A member or fellow of the RCP in good standing with the RCP, their employer and the GMC, who is committed to the vision, mission and values of the RCP, and its Code of Conduct.
  • The role holder must have the capacity to dedicate an average of 4 hours a month RCP work.

RCP expert representative

The average commitment is anticipated to be 4 hours per month.

The role holder is not remunerated, but the RCP will reimburse reasonable expenses in accordance with RCP policy, such as travel and accommodation for meetings.
